How To Create Your Own Information Product

by Hans Storrie on March 31, 2009

Creating your own information product should be the desired result for anyone serious about starting their very own home-based internet business.

Affiliate marketing can, undoubtedly, be profitable – but creating your very own product can give you a great sense of self-achievement; self-worth and really make a new business worthwhile.

The parts that most newbies find confusing however, is the fact they don’t know where to start when creating their very own unique product for the very first time. An issue, once overcome can bring great rewards and a much-needed additional income in these ever-changing and difficult economic times.

Here are a few pointers to put you in the right direction and with a little patience and determination, can be really easy, fun and extremely profitable…

If you have no experience whatsover, take a PLR ebook and re-write adding your own voice or have it re-written by someone at www.elance.com, www.scriptlance.com or www.rentacoder.com

Choose a topic you’re passionate about by writing a list of all your hobbies, pastimes or things that are close to your heart. You’ll be amazed at what you can come up with.

Before developing the product, make sure there are hungry buyers in that specific market or niche by carrying out your own market and keyword research. Don’t make the mistake of creating a product first then hoping it will sell – find the market first then sell it to them.

Do a search for Private Label Rights products in your chosen niche and find an ebook that you can modify and author as your own. There are many excellent PLR websites around that offer some great products and finding them isn’t exactly rocket science.

Buy a domain name related to your product using the main keyword phrase in your domain where possible. For instance, developing a product about curing diabetes, you could have a domain name: www.curing-diabetes-forever.com – www.ways-to-cure-diabetes.com etc, etc.

Develop a simple 3 or 4 page website – Main sales page, privacy policy, terms and conditions and contact page. There are many great web hosting companies around to host your new website and I’d recommend using one that contains the Cpanel interface as it’s extremely easy to use.

Take an extract from your product and create a free report or email mini-series to offer your visitors in exchange for their name and email address. Example: “7 Surefire Ways to Eliminate Diabetes For Good.”

Once your website is published, it’s imperative that you incorporate an autoresponder loaded with 7 – 10 follow up messages and your free report or mini email series, so your website visitors can request it.

Give your visitors exactly what they asked for – don’t ever send them stuff that has nothing to do with what they want to receive. This is asking for trouble and you’ll have more unsubscribers and spam complaints than you know what to do with.

Have a link at the bottom of each email which sends the visitor back to your site to purchase your ebook – for instance:

To find out more about diabetes and how you can eliminate it for good, visit: www.yoursite.com

Build trust with your subscribers and always stay in touch – this will ensure your readers will start to look at you as a proven expert in your field. Doing so will eventually encourage sales of your product.

The above is a simple recipe and doesn’t need to be complicated. The costs involved to have hosting, an autoresponder and a PLR ebook that you can rewrite yourself totals in the region of around $50-$60 dollars initially and around $29.00 per month. Selling only one ebook per month at around $37.00 – well you can do the math. It can be extremely profitable.

Go ahead and get started and don’t forget to leave comments if you thought this was helpful.
